Be part of an extraordinary performance
When John Christie founded the Glyndebourne Festival in 1934 it was daring and original. It still is.
Running from May to August every year, we’re happily an hour away from the distractions of London in the glorious Sussex countryside.
Even for an opera house, we’re very different. Our indoor 1,200-seat state-of-the-art theatre puts you unusually and vividly close to the performers, a witness to the extraordinary attention to detail we put into everything we do.
We’re delighted that our audience is as passionate about the details as we are. From the tradition of wearing something special – as a mark of respect for the performers – to the time spent with friends and family discussing Act One during our 90 minute supper interval… The experience is unapologetically world-class, whether enjoyed over a lazy picnic in our 12-acres of gardens or fine dining in one of our on-site restaurants.
However you tailor it, a Glyndebourne experience is where memories are made.
And it’s not limited to summer in Sussex. Join us this June, July or August in your local cinema, for three very different Festival screenings. Or find us on your doorstep this autumn as we hit the road with three full-scale live productions, performing in venues across the country as part of our annual Tour.
Wherever you find Glyndebourne, don’t miss the opportunity to be part of an extraordinary performance. We look forward to welcoming you.
Admission Prices vary by cinema for this season. Please see individual performances.
Free Tickets (such as Guest Passes, Admit One vouchers, and Meerkat Movies) cannot be used on this presentation. Relevant Daily Telegraph and ClassicFM vouchers are accepted, when tickets are bought in person at the box office.
Event Cinema presentations are classed as 12A by default, except where noted otherwise. This reflects the fact that the BBFC has not examined content, and therefore we are advised that it cannot be determined whether the material contained within the presentation is suitable for children. The applied 12A certificate means that persons under the age of 12 can only be admitted when accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
In some situations, Event Cinema presentations may have a classification pre-determined by either the venue of origination, or the distributor. These certificates reflect the original ratings applied to the content of any show, for example by the exhibiting theatre. These certificates are clearly displayed next to the presentation title.
Encore performances are always rated by the BBFC. Please note that for 15 & 18 certificate presentations, nobody under that age can be admitted,
